I think there’s a huge difference between lies that serve a narrative (sometimes involves self deception) vs lies that are intended for manipulation. Haggling involves a lot of “lies” that are just business but many find haggling distasteful.
Or, to argue the opposite, when someone knows the board game rules so well that it’s not fun to play with them then we “lie” and create house rules that are fun for everyone.
