The reason the nagging wife trope is symptomatic of divorce is because it's indicative of a death spiral. To nag is to say "I care about X" to reject is to say "X is not important". To love someone is to accept their X as important. The nagging wife is symptomatic of love death.

The equivalent indicator within companies and teams is rejecting what other people feel is important. Instead of a live important nothing being made manifest. A dead 'protocol' is followed for the sake of minimizing conflict.

It's like when the 'husband' angrily goes out to take out the garbage. The real problem isn't the task but not following through on his word or not being proactive enough towards life.
