The equivalent indicator within companies and teams is rejecting what other people feel is important. Instead of a live important nothing being made manifest. A dead 'protocol' is followed for the sake of minimizing conflict.
The reason the nagging wife trope is symptomatic of divorce is because it's indicative of a death spiral. To nag is to say "I care about X" to reject is to say "X is not important". To love someone is to accept their X as important. The nagging wife is symptomatic of love death.
