Almost everyone who is honest about being happy for others actually hasn't actually reached this level of species level empathy. Instead they've increased their ability to self deceive.

They really believe they are happy for someone else but that pressure builds and builds... until cracks start to show. At the cost of conforming, they've gaslit themselves to the point where they can't actually recognize happiness anymore.

It's like not being able to sense warmth anymore because you're so numb inside. You don't know where to go. There's a great sense of pity and sadness but also a bit of ridiculousness to the situation. "Literally wtf, how can you forget how to be happy?"
