"Following your passion" without first achieving some level of self-discipline leads to a lifetime of overcompensation. At the first sign of difficulty you exclaim "This must not be for me." and move on to something else.

The primary failure of the first task leads to secondary feelings of inferiority as you fail at further tasks. You want to make up for a weakness by having very high standards for another task but fail at them as well due to the overly high standards.
