The difference between a guru and "guru" is this. A cult leader or "guru" offers you fire from which you light your torch. A guru tells you his light is worthless and that you must find your own. One radiates and has no interest in being helped or to help. The other burns.

The trick is that from the perspective of the light. Everyone is worthy. Any ideology that tells you otherwise is trying to use you in some way. It's something warm and comforting. It's something you can buy on the free market.

Aside: The problem of money is fixed when the amount of money does not correlate with the value of the human life lived with that money. Just like twitter or reddit likes don't increase my human value in reality. It's useful as a tool, not as a life goal.
