Very cool. What makes a modern meme unique is its anchor to ideas outside word sound like images or videos. Both b/c interaction is on media where this type of media is a first class citizen, and b/c you can use words IRL to point to them assuming shared cultural context.

I wonder if that makes digital natives more and less capable of expressing complex ideas. The unit of expression packs more nuance and information but it’s almost like using memes empowers the meme instead of empowering what you’re trying to express.
