Diversity can be an attack on the sacred. E.g. if you have jasmine rice you might prize a stickier breed. If you have glutinous rice you might prize the less starchier breeds. If you have free access to both however you lose rarity as a pointer to the sacred.

Similarly, ‘girlish’ features that are a few standard deviations above the average aren’t considered sacred anymore when you can fetishize asian women.

If sparkling water was the norm we’d complain about how it burns the throat. Still water would be smooth and silky.
