You can regularly find the 'exact' same thing on Taobao 10 or 20 times cheaper than what it's sold in the U.S. On one hand, there's an aspect of "Quality". The manufacturing process has defects. Dangerous for batteries, not so much for a pot.
On the other hand, how much is a premium for a narrative? How much energy and money is spent on marketing. How much of the quality control is illusion? What percentage of it provides actual value?

Though... without the price premium, many businesses prolly cannot make ends meet. The 10-20 price difference doesn't point at exploitation but that of inefficiency. Like an obese runner getting winded and needing a bicycle to keep up with someone more efficient.
