People like being told what to do People don't like doing what their told Why?
People want to be themselves but also don’t want to be judged. Everyone is unique so someone really being themselves will always annoy everyone else to some degree.

The state your describing is most jobs that are adverse to diversity as people are there unwillingly but have to pretend, even to themselves that they enjoy it. They just want to do the job b/c they know doing their own thing will get them fired.
