Participation trophies actually create the culture of hard work because they give intrinsic meaning to suffering.
Suffering given meaning creates entitlement. A belief that showing up and effort should always net awards, even if you had no actual impact. The complaints about participation awards are connected to the culture of fetishizing hard work. They’re two sides of the same coin.

It’s half right. It’s just that showing up and being there is enough. The suffering is meaningless and unnecessary. By reading too much into it, the truth is distorted.
