A lot of 'crazy stupid' people actually have valid points, but their delivery is just full of self-contradiction and gaps in basic knowledge that it's easy to throw their whole argument away.
There's almost usually one core valid point and insight. And I do mean Insight. As in, something worth knowing about that you probably don't understand and should. The trick is to focus and constantly wonder "Why is this person upset?"
