Mindless consumers are probably the main source of caring in the world. China and the US being the poles that power this turbine that drives humanity.

The higher you climb the less you care about until all worldy desires fall away. Caring is inherently unsophisticated from a “divine” perspective, but that perspective is also inherherently non-human.
