Traditional gender roles sacrifice the individual for the sake of the family unit. Children are core to it having value, otherwise it’s meaningless sacrifice.

The thing is, furthering humanity isn’t a majority goal. Furthering “my legacy” or “my country” or “my family” or “my religion” are much more common.

Those desires are the only thing that drives humanity forwards. Empowerment at the individual level sucks away energy from the continuation of the collective.

One interesting question is whether or not the collective is worth continuing. As good stewards of the planet, life or consciousness, we’d want to be surpassed by our “children”.

Is it AI? That would be a lot easier to soread across the universe if that kind of spreading is “good”. Is it stewarding all lifeforms to higher consciousness (per Ishmael) I dunno...
