1/ Individuals grow through individual experience. Groups through group experience. Humanity too grows through experiences good and bad. The larger the group, the slower the growth as larger experiences are much more difficult to create.
Our ability to grow as individuals has reached well beyond any one person’s ability to achieve. The cost is our ability to grow as a group, family, country, species, etc...

The only experiences that hold us together are negative experiences. Actions that avoid or destroy negative experiences become the same actions that destroy group belonging.

That’s the problem with a boundary oriented stance towards life. You become so concerned with protecting, keeping out and keeping up that you forget to feed the fire you were protecting.
