I think we can easily conclude that one of the main reasons stock markets always go up is that governments can not afford to have large companies go kaput.

Who bears the cost of these speculative investments? The common citizen, eventually. Financing of large bailouts almost eventually finds its way into govt deficits, which is serviced by creating money out of thin air and hence diluting purchasing power of the currency.

Does inflation move power from those to save to those who work? The value of savings goes down but salaries would have to increase b/c of inflation?
