The whole Spartan Manly Wolf Stoic movement that tries to attain for Fearlessness of Death Whenever It May Come is rather admirable. But they're just putting on blinders that add Courage at the cost of Stubbornness and Grayness of Life.

You're not supposed to be Ready To Die. You're supposed to be Not Yet, Not Yet, Give me one more Precious Miracle Moment. To understand Death is to realize you know nothing about it and that it may come any. single. moment.

Anyone that has to shout or emphasize: "I AM ready to die." without also mentioning what it is they're willing to die for is really saying that they're lonely. There is no real bravery without what that bravery intends to die for.

If you have nothing you're willing to die for, you have nothing you CAN be brave for. It's like trying to power a nuclear submarine with coal and gasoline.

A source of vulnerability powers Courage. Courage without it is pseudo courage. A pissing contest of chest thumping. A claim of having discovered perpetual energy.

Live as if everything is Precious and you'll find Courage you never knew you had. Live as if you're lucky to be alive, not as if Life should be lucky to have you.
