thinking about hand washing Is there any other technique where we think Good Instruction is "Just do it for X amount of time" How do I clean my house? Just make sure you do it for 1 hour and you'll be fine.

anything with invisible output really. Brushing your teeth, 2 week software sprints, practicing piano, all meetings, etc... The most interesting one I can think of is cooking. Many timing heuristics but you’re supposed to learn and identify signals eventually.

Seems to make sense when the technique is assumed to be understood. "Leaving a thing in the oven" is pretty straightforward. Maybe I'm just noticing the popular assumption that "washing your hands properly" is trivial in a similar way.
