A sign of expertise are "flourishes" that have a snappy feel to them. Most easy to see in playing musical instruments, martials arts, juggling etc... but also applies abstractly to things like thinking in the form of insights.
Here's a possible reason why these are a sign of expertise for physical movements: Muscle fibers don't partially contract, they are either on or off. Strength control is the ability to adjust the # of them.

Muscle fibers also have different types, 1, 2A, and 2B, slow medium and fast twitch fibers. Muscle recruitment happens in this same sequence. 2B fibers are difficult to train b/c you need to go through the other fibers first.

When you go past exhaustion through discipline you are actually activating and training a special type of "snappy" power. This may be why the ability to "flourish" that is, handle higher accelerative forces without losing control, is a mark of expertise.

Raw power can activate all muscle fibers at once, but it doesn't feel sophisticated because there isn't any subtlety. There's a sense of the mind shutting down in the "ARGGG!!" moment.
