A thing that would never have occurred to me in advance: Once I unstuck some of my emotional range, reduced anxiety, some things started bothering me *more* because it was legitimate to be bothered by them and they were worse in contrast to my background emotional experience.

IMO one of my career mistakes was mistaking this kind of increased sensitivity as a strength in the work environment. For the longest time I though I was building bridges between teams and surfacing issues. Eventually realized such behavior was very disliked by management

Oof. Yeah. Management don't actually want a healthier, better connected, base of employees because then they might experience horrible terrible thoughts like "self-worth" and "organising against us" which gets in the way of the divide and rule program.

I think it’s also that you’re perceived as nitpicking over non-issues. Which they ARE from their perspective due to lack of sensitivity. Feels like Protocol > Communication. And to be fair, for something like a military organization, this is necessary.
