Managers feel "boring" because that's their job. This can be done either by being truly boring and narrowing the world for your reports to the same as yours. Or you can be bored (proficient) with the team thing and look outwards and explore the larger world together.
Boredom is the job. But you can choose to see boredom as either the solution or the problem. See it as the solution, and you stop and stifle life. See it as the problem, and you become grateful for the impetus for the journey.
