It could be that sleep, instead of helping us solidify memory and skills helps us forget. The forgetting is # the pulling back of the bowstring that allows our next active recall to solidify the pattern.
Intuitive rationale behind Anki and spaced repetition is that remembering just as you’re about to forget is a much stronger signal than constant inundation. Wonder is there’s a parallel with procrastination. Natural alignment with the efficacy of the Dao.
