Unpopular opinion: America never needed social security, Medicaid, or Medicare. They were mainly created to win votes. There very existence has weakened the markets ability to solve those problems. Socialist schemes to undermine capitalism and its working.
Perhaps the lack of a strong centralized power made these initiatives incredibly inefficient and impotent as well. Though counterexample the medical care in China is lacking in many ways despite the efficiency of a strong center working very well for its infrastructure.

What "strong centralized power" has been able to successfully enable a socialized form of government? Societies founded upon the labor of somebody else will always fail. There has never been a sucessful form of socialized central power.
