Why are doctors so often authoritative, likeable, well-spoken, self confident? Almost like actors playing doctors. At what point are these qualities selected for in medical training?

Most visits are about assurance. Speaking in an authoritative, confident, kind manner is similar to hypnosis and creates a strong placebo effect that does actually solve the “problem”. Probably a subconsciously learned technique while trying to do their jobs.
