Overfunding weakens an organizations immune response. Viruses hijack the creation mechanisms of the cell to create more of itself. Every warning signal is a resource scarcity signal. Excess of resources removes this signaling ability.

The reason you get frustrated and give up is that you feel like you’re spinning your wheels. The reason you are spinning your wheels is because you haven’t dropped your ego enough to learn proper fundamentals. All the tricks, tips and hacks can’t overcome poor fundamentals.

Ignorance is like a dark room. Even if that room has been dark for a hundred years, if you light a candle the darkness simply vanishes. The darkness does not lay claim or resist the light. In this way, ignorance is something that can be swiftly changed.

Bad leadership is concerned with mechanisms of command. Good leadership in mechanisms of thought.

Many disagreements are due to one side overfitting to too small a world out of fear. Each sees the other side as unreasonable b/c of differing attitudes towards the unknown.

We want to see clearly into the future. But not too clearly. It’s not that we want to live in a hazy and unclear way. But that Death starts to come into too clear of a focus.

When you can live from the perspective of anything you effectively become everything. You disappear by being everywhere.

Authors can write well because they can model all sorts of people and see their words from all different truths.

Words always seem perfectly clear to the speaker/writer. It reflects their own truth perfectly, but only to themselves. Who knows what everyone else is forming in their minds.

~ New article ~ Two general themes: 1) People don't think enough about what they work on. 2) Too many top people don't use their differentiated skill-sets. "We are blind to the complacency that passes for ambition in modern society." — John O'Donahue

A lack of sincere conversation is the most significant organizational risk that most people are blind to. Pandering, politics, and fear prevent sincere communication.

Every culture needs scapegoats. Each sees other cultures as barbaric when they see different types of scapegoats. E.g. women, other races. Some unique scapegoating ideas: poorer people from all across the world, the self

I just got an email from a reader with a background in Bogleheads/Vanguard/Value investing philosophy. They were looking for the best resources for understanding portfolio theory/diversification and risk. This is what I sent (Curious what else would be helpful to include)
