It feels like Biden is winning on a not-Sanders vote rather than his own merits, which are scant. I don't know how he hopes to take on Trump with any message other than "Vote for me or Trump wins." That, plus his decades-long history of bad campaigning, seems doomed to me.

Okay? I'm not arguing about the primary at this point. Sanders isn't going to win without the sort of titanic shift that obviates any prognostication about the general at this point.
