@a_a_jackson, I would love to hear your thoughts on this. You recommend UK parliament to support “community based education” in Afghanistan last month. What do you think of this? This may not be what many had in mind for “community based learning.”

Hmm. I’m actually not 100% clear on what the acting minister is proposing? She seems to be talking about the importance of religious education (?), which is a slightly different issue. But the article has a lot going on – a few quotes from her, complaints about textbooks etc.

But I see why it's aroused controversy, and yes I was thinking of formal CBE programs, which are run in cooperation with her ministry. These are an emergency, stop-gap solution -- when no ‘formal’ gvt school can happen.
