The impact that this will have on Taliban calculations in Doha, on the Afghan government, general security but also the ability to deliver aid, on any number of issues is a major unknown.
Its fairly apparent, to me anyway, what will happen: the Taliban gains more control. But in some places, more complex dynamics may emerge. (And there have never been fewer independent observers, analysts around to report on it)
The targeting killings the article mentions, and which @AfghanistanIHRC recently highlighted more broadly may be one outcome but one of many. I shudder to think about even the economic consequences, for so many people who made a living off of the military presence
