Its fairly apparent, to me anyway, what will happen: the Taliban gains more control. But in some places, more complex dynamics may emerge. (And there have never been fewer independent observers, analysts around to report on it)

Fair point. Tweeting with too broad a brush. (but now that you've raised it, l thought they were meant to leave most of those shortly, ex Bagram/RSHQ? This is of course not official and could be incorrect, but I thought they were drawing down and out of MeS and maybe Kandahar?)

The Americans stayed 19 years and I think what they wanted to do they couldn't do. It was a failure. The Americans couldn't stay any longer. The security of cities is deteriorating every day more and this will mark the end of the war before a huge shock then calm and peace.
