I'm thinking about Mujib's tweets on this, and the historical discrepancy between things like the NYT's casualty counting (and other press reporting) and what GIROA has reported/confirmed...
Not to say that the violence isn't brutal and possibly increasing (or minimize the Taliban's behavior). It just feels like a shift in GIROA tone and policy on this...or maybe that's just me?

I don’t put 100% stock in the accuracy of Afghan govt reporting on violence—there has always been a lot of questions surrounding their processes and veracity of reporting. So, in an absolute sense, such numbers should be taken with some grains of salt. 1/2
