Curious if you think that the uptick is this sharp in reality? Or perhaps has GIROA been hiding/minimizing the true toll for reasons of politics, morale, etc... and now it serves them *not* to do that in order to emphasize Taliban violence?

I'm thinking about Mujib's tweets on this, and the historical discrepancy between things like the NYT's casualty counting (and other press reporting) and what GIROA has reported/confirmed...

Not to say that the violence isn't brutal and possibly increasing (or minimize the Taliban's behavior). It just feels like a shift in GIROA tone and policy on this...or maybe that's just me?

SIGAR has long complained that GIROA has prevented US military from making ANDS casualties public, so this latest trend certainly raises lots of questions.
