@JJSchroden Hello there, what is the best book you’d recommend to learn about Afghanistan, in a historical, cultural and military perspective ?

Fun thread ;) I second the @BRRubin Fragmentation and the Gopal book. Louis Dupree's 'Afghanistan' is still a handy reference for the basics, and Saikal's work is helpful too. I'm struck by how much, as ever, the big books on Afghanistan are about war. Unsurprising but...
