C’mon @TIME. Get it together. This piece is curiously sloppy. There are legit concerns but they get buried in conspiracy theories and weird mistakeshttps://time.com/5784103/secret-annexes-backroom-deals-can-zalmay-khalilzad-deliver-afghan-peace-for-trump/ …

The bigger problem sadly is that this piece reduces everything to ethnopolitics. (A) that’s irresponsible and lazy and also boring (B) if you are gonna pull that, maybe you need to get your ethnicities and tribes straight?

Did I miss that momentous moment when the Taliban endorsed women’s rights and human rights? Oh wait. It never happened. Sure, they made qualified statements at Moscow about Islamic rights re women etc. Two words: fact checkerpic.twitter.com/JrTnfekeDy

Oh god. I didn't read it but now I think my head is going to explode. "Pashtun tribe"

Yes. The Pashtun's are a tribe, with two main sub-tribes, and numerous sub-sub tribes. Mainly in the south, but throughout Afghanistan, and the ruler of Afghanistan has been a Pashtun for over a century
