My disagrmt is on this: the lies were/are real. I was outside the USG, but I was there. That voters/congress haven't cared enough to hold these things to scrutiny is part of the problem. But the American public owes @CraigMWhitlock a debt of gratitude for trying to make them care
I think some of the criticisms are quite valid but lies and confirmation bias can become symbiotic. There’s a real risk of encouraging popular journalism to ignore the tough stories by piling onto them simply bc a WaPo story is less nuanced than a 100 page RAND or SIGAR report.
Totally agree on thanks to @CraigMWhitlock. Proof of official lying has clear evidentiary standards.
