There’s a fascinating piece to be written on the politics of polio — on progovt tactics (airstrikes, etc), on Taliban tactics (cooption, extortion), and on aid narratives/dynamics. Brave vaccinators deserve all due credit, but there’s a more complicated backstory
@sveac and I have done a chapter on this in the volume, but it really only begins to get into some of the issues. Would make a great dissertation for someone.
