I'm so glad SIGAR is publishing these lessons learned. But, you know, at the time, there were like *droves* of people saying that this was exactly what would happen. I remember pointing to the British Afghan experience (mainly to keep the Russians out) in 2001. I was told it wouldn’t happen again: “We are smarter than that, we are going to kick their ***”.
