Not trying to downplay social anxiety, but for me at least, anxiety comes with large group interactions. By the time it's small groups/1-on-1 interactions it becomes a million times easier & more comfortable. That's just me, I wouldn't presume that my experiences are 'archetypal'
Not as such, not in a way where I fixate on the 'novelty', as it's labelled, like some sweaty-palmed incel. If you're having a hard time with anxiety in those situations, try focusing on the intellectual discourse rather than anticipation of what you would like to have happen.

Another helpful trick is to imagine you're talking to like, another human person and not some unknowable spectre called "the feminine"

Well put. That's what I was going for, you said it better & more succinctly. You're alright by me, comrade, I was just displeased to have my motivations maligned, but judging from the ppl it seems you have to deal with it's entirely understandable you got defensive. Peace.
