By the way, here’s your friend in Santa Monica stating outright that most of his patients aren’t vaccinated against measles. He’s proud of it too. https://youtu.be/cqOpZRc2imQ  @gorskon @DrJaimeFriedman @TheKidKidDoc

This is unfortunate as Jay likes to go on record that he does in fact promote vaccination.

He also says that measles is both “benign” and “not benign.”

Is he still stuck in magical thinking? @JayGordonMDFAAP doesn’t understand math. “Millions” of #measles cases have to happen before we see serious complications? That’s not how it works.

"That’s not how it works." Yes, it is. Millions is a bit hyperbolic, though.

      Replying to @aCityDesk @UrbaneDoc4Kids and

Rates of complications are an individual’s rate, or chance, of having it happen to them. We expect an ‘x’ number of complications for every ‘y’ number of cases. You don’t need to reach a threshold of ‘y’ number of cases to get your complication.

That’s like saying “don’t worry Bobby, 1000 people haven’t had #measles yet so you can’t die from yours!”

If Bobby is a healthy child, Bobby is not going to die from measles. If Bobby is an unhealthy child, then he should see a doctor immediately.

So not only are you not a mathematician, you aren’t a physician either.

Correct. Given you are a physician and mathematician I will acquiesce to your logic.

Having measles makes the child unhealthy. Vaccinate your kids troglodyte.
