apparently it was a middle aged white woman who the lone officer cuffed and escorted to the cruiser calmly and without drama. no idea what all that was about but glad nobody died or got roughed up.

now it looks like they're talking to someone in the driver's seat. whatever they're planning to do they're sure as hell taking their time about it.

i didn't notice it at first bc there have been a lot of work vans in this block for the house it's parked in front of but apparently the h noticed it was sitting there running earlier tonight & thought it odd. when i said there were flashing lights he asked if it was still there.

something's going down with a van across the street. took a while to see anything on the active calls oage but it's noted as "person down". police have been looking inside the van and finally opened the door and went inside. ambulance here, but nobody in a rush to get to them☹️

turns out Schiff is contemplating a run for DiFi's senate seat so it's nice to have context since some people (who don't actually care about defense spending) will doubtlessly point to it as 'proof' he's just as progressive as Lee and Porter who have also indicated they will run

Adam Schiff, Tony Cardenas, and Jimmy Gomez all voted yes on Barbara Lee's NDAA amndt to cut the Pentagon budget by $100b.
Clearly performative votes given they're records, but guess why they did it?
Because Maebe A. Girl, Angelica Duenas, and David Kim are on the Nov ballot.

Tom Waits' Nighthawks at the Diner was released in 1975, more than a decade bef i became aware of/obsessed with it & even though i haven't played it in years i still can't say "it's cold out there" w/o "colder than a ticket taker's smile at the Ivar Theatre on a Saturday night"

it's like a little plant that keeps trying to come back, it's fragile and needs to be protected and nurtured... sometimes that means keeping it a secret if you aren't in a life condition where it won't be seen as a threat by people who want you pliant, a "weed" to be rooted out.

Just as coercive control leads to progressive restriction of volition and psychological annihilation, recovery is a progressive return to one’s authentic, integrated self. Recovery doesn’t mean that life is perfect or the damage is undone; it just means you are fully you again.

Anyone in New York able to adopt or foster a sweet ginger baby, who was abandoned by his family? 🥺 If you are outside of Syracuse we can try to make it work. They have been trying to hook up with local shelters but haven't had any luck

The commission appointed to review Biden’s Defense Strategy is 75% comprised of experts with $$$ ties to major government contractors and/or weapons firms.
What does that mean for their ability to criticize a strategy justifying a $858bn defense budget?

Pretty incredible that Google is trying to get away with blaming macroeconomic conditions for their layoffs, when over the last year they’ve spend 57.36B on stock buybacks.
That’s enough to support the 12,000 laid off engineers at their median engineer compensation for 23 years.

a lot of people are mad at this but you have to understand that tech biz guys don’t know about real books such as Moby Dick or Don Quixote. they think all books are called Thought For Food: Hack Your Brain’s Diet or The Squint Principle: See Less, Perceive More

so according to someone who filmed the incident and was fired for doing so, the company called the cops on a worker, the cops find him holding a knife because that’s his job—it’s a meatpacking plant!—and after they kill him, production isn’t even paused
