At every other broadcasters expense, no less! Pretty poor of BBC to expect everyone else to make way for their stupidity of closing Three to begin with, and another move down, which I find appalling

If they hadn't given up the slot in the first place all the channels would have had to move down anyway to make room for the local channels. Bearing in mind most of them now just show teleshopping and pop videos for 23hrs 50mins a day best thing to do is give BBC3 that slot back.

And to think the possible return of BBC3 was denied just months ago when other broadcasters argued against moving to accomodate BBC4 in Scotland without future proofing for the rumoured return of BBC3. Time OFCOM bumped the weak local licences into touch.
-
They also denied any plans to make changes to their services in November's Freeview consultation. But technically, any plans can be talked about until the BBC Executive have given the green light.

Thought it was going back on channel 9.

BBC Three was previously on Freeview channel 7. Some local TV services now use 7, BBC Alba in Scotland, Channel 4 is on 7 in Wales. BBC Four is channel 9, except in Scotland where it is on channel 24. BBC Scotland is on channel 9 there.
