Couldn’t that be a function of anti-Trump Republicans becoming independents?
The number of self-identified Republicans have remained steady (27 - 31%) over the past five years. The answer to this is 'no', unless you're proposing that this happened simultaneously with independents becoming Trump Republicans.
That is more than enough people for a useful poll.
Why vote for a watered down version of what they already have?
