That's quite a way to welcome a new generation of mostly progressive women of color entering the Democratic Party who are activating young people, people of color, and working-class voters of all backgrounds.

After Nancy Pelosi’s comments on AOC and progressives, let’s just remember how Democrats “in real life” feel.pic.twitter.com/gmbCkMw0kp

Pelosi inadvertently proving that AOC & young newly elected progressives are more powerful than her & her business as usual incumbents. "There's like 5 of 'em " Okay but they're the most popular 5 in the House right now. They never should have conceded you the power of Speaker.

So
@AOC won her seat from 5 people voting for her?@SpeakerPelosi you need to wake up. The American people are finding their voice again and center isn’t what we are looking for, we want change, healthcare, and our kids to be safe in schools. Doing nothing doesn’t get that done. -
Over Pelosi? Support our campaign to replace her in CA-12!https://twitter.com/shahidforchange/status/1117596506427518976?s=21 …

I can't unhear "that's like 5 people". It's so familiar. In those 4 words you can hear how AOC & four others (not hard to guess who) are identified and marked as problem children. As is usually the case with women of color leaders. Ugh.
-
Five people. They may have a combined 15M Twitter followers, but they are still five people. There are 229 other Democrats in the House, not all of which are in the same wing as AOC, Omar, etc, and all of whose votes the Speaker may need. Don’t forget that.
-
AOC and company will get over those comments, even if you won’t. They are too smart for that.
-
What a disappointingly patronizing comment, Brian. The Speaker continually shows a terrible assessment & outlook on new members who’ve shown leadership & she has repeatedly undermined them. That wing of her party is more than 5 people & I’ve seen AOC build w Republicans.
-
You can call my comments anything you want. This is politics, and all this talk about the base and move aside and what not is going to hand 2020 to the GOP. Believe it or not, I support a lot of what AOC stands for, but you have to win the WH and Senate first to get it done.
-
What worries me is people having not learned lessons or grown agile in these last 3-4 years. A lacking & antiquated understanding of ppl & a party in continued identity crisis is going to lose us 2020 I believe you support AOC. Her role isn’t to fall in line in a broken system.
-
Absolutely... and it’s time for a new era ... the majority of young people want the party to move towards the progressive side. Pelosi and all the establishment Dems will give us four more years of Trump and then blame it on Bernie!
