Who would pass such a policy? Call the office of whatever doctor is the chief of staff and ask if this is true? If so paste it on all social media and do a letter-to-the-editor.

I am glad to see that more are canceling surgeries when the hospital or surgeon are not willing to treat pain. This is already beginning to hit their bottom line, since that seems to be all that matters I think it will be a successful way to make a point!

Overdose deaths are occurring primarily in heroin addicted people, not in the general population, more deaths not more addicts.

In Maryland our team got confirmation that our legislation will be sponsored or at minimum that an existing bill will be amended to address the issues we presented! It is exciting to add Maryland to a growing list of states that should have dr/patient protections in 2020!

The forced tapering of pts with legitimate pain and further stigmatizing them -only furthers the BLK market use of illicit drugs! To discern between pts with addiction and those with chronic pain is VITAL- Those who are mixing this basic concept are making matters worse.

Important comment by the always diplomatic . One sentence summary: The study shows that while solving nothing, the ham-fisted approach pushed by anti-opioid do-gooders and ignorant zealots has substantially harmed stable CPPs on long-term higher dose opioids.

Rule number 1 in all of Medicine and Surgery: See your patients. I mean, really SEE them. See their pain, their fears, their concerns, their past, their social context, their struggles. See how their situations have influenced their illness. See their humanity.

I have treated 40,000 patients, and I have seen medicine change from a compassion-based profession into a corporate-greed driven industry.

Did the carrier stop covering the brand she was using because they added another brand to their formulary? It is a good question to ask. I know because I work for a Blue Cross plan.

Just because it's no longer on the Formulary, doesn't mean they don't have to cover it. Have her Dr Request a Formulary Exception & Submit a Letter of Medical Necessity.

Ok, let me tell you what to do 1. Call Medicare 1-800-633-4227 tell them you would like to DIS ENROLL from your present plan and be Enrolled into a different Med Advantage Plan 2. You can do between Jan 1 - March 31 - this is called Open Enrollment Period

Yup. Forced tapering destabilizes chronic pain patients. It’s not surprising that those who WANT to be tapered can be tapered w/o a significant increase in pain. Groundbreaking research has also shown that people with no infection do tremendously well without antibiotics. 🙄

Really? Let's ask 500 cpp's. When you were forced tapered, did your pain magically disappear?

Anti-opioid crusaders have tried to stigmatize CPPs by calling safely prescribed pain meds “heroin pills” & claiming CPPs are in “heroin prep school.” Some claim CPPs are addicted to pain. IYO, will these hateful people ever take personal responsibility for the harm they’ve done?

“plan does not cover oxycodone” Why should they? In the most dangerous, far reaching public health disaster CDC urges doctors, health plans, & pharmacies to stop opiate pain treatment -doesn’t work, will kill a and addict you. Has the CDC been infiltrated ?

A Society that does not treat people in pain is a society with serious moral deficiences. If you are irrationally afraid of something deal with it. Fear of addiction phobia is a valid and treatable mental illness. Have be careful your fears do not harm others.

And I learned today that US opioid prescribing rates are now approaching a 20-year low. But for some reason, self-serving politicians want opioid overprescribing to still be a problem...
