    My 12 yo had discovered the hundred year pattern and actually backed it up with historical proof. I think it comforted him to think that if he can come through to the end (whatever that might be) of this pandemic he just might have a chance at a somewhat normal life. Hope he can

    This is a good point. When anti-vaxxers cite their freedoms, constitutional rights, and–the whitest thing of all–the Founding Fathers to rail against vaccine mandates, do they know what they're talking about? What if I told you this happens EXACTLY every 100 years? A thread.

    Mask and vaccine mandates are a threat to freedom. Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves.

    TIL that neither anthropologists nor archeaologists (and their related scientific kin) have not found any evidence of barter economies in the way Adam Smith and other economists have historically described them. Yes, goods were swapped for goods, but not in ways described.

    Journalist, researcher, psychologist, GP, LGBT org, podcaster, gay bar, sport club, hookup app - literally any cis person or service run by cis people, take their allyship with a heavy grain of salt until they've proven it to you in REAL ways, not just claims/ products/self promo

    Reminder to trans and nonbinary people: It is always a bad idea to talk to a cisgender journalist without doing deep research about who they are and what experiences trans people have had with them and the platform they work for.

    I am crying at these responses. And also thinking about how our can help. Who out there is specializes in K-12 education & wants to partner with some epidemiologists to develop covid content? (And who out there wants to fund us to do this?)

    I’m curious, for those of you with school-aged kids, did their schools add covid or infectious disease modules to the curriculum last year? Or were kids just left to figure this whole pandemic thing out on their own?
