We have a mirror. That last major deployment for Webb is COMPLETE! My word... mere words of congratulations to all the teams and people involved in this are not enough. What an amazing success. WE HAVE A TELESCOPE! Now to cool it down to 6K.

The most dangerous shot I've ever attempted: this is Venus as it passed right next to the sun at noon today. It looks like a ring because when it is backlit, the upper layers of the atmosphere scatter the light around the planet.

Nope, we’re not just winging it! But we did successfully deploy and latch the first of our two primary mirror wings. 😎 These side panels, folded back for launch, each hold 3 of Webb’s 18 mirror segments. Next up: our final wing!

The Pacific Ocean encompasses ~ 1/3 of the Earth's surface and it's larger than Earth's entire landmass combined. This satellite photo composite taken in 2014 (with four tropical cyclones) also shows the 'Pacific perspective': an planet covered by water

✅ Secondary mirror deployed! But there's little time to pause and reflect. Teams will ensure 's tripod structure is latched before beginning its final major milestone this week: full deployment of the space telescope's honeycomb-shaped primary mirror.

The secondary mirror support structure of the James Webb Space Telescope is fully deployed on the ground in a test at Northrop Grumman.

Persei (50507/2021-133A) It's been suggested that LOX & kerosene were vented from the tanks Scenario suggests otherwise: Decay rate is much slower than usual for an empty rocket body Orbits are too unstable at the current height for Space-Track to be providing routine data
