I want to encourage trans folks to update their passports, but there's also some safety in flying under the radar in order to leave the country if necessary.https://twitter.com/emily_esque/status/1054148540958687239 …

Oooh—primo tip! While I hope not to have to move to another country, I wouldn’t necessarily rule things out if things get bad. So if you might want to, feel free to CC me on related tweets if you happen to discover any gems along these lines. (Or not—it’s up to you.)

Will do! I also have a friend in Ireland that owns a company, so they might be able to hire me if things get bad.

Right on! I hope that things don’t get bad, but if they do, it can’t hurt to be prepared, eh?

Hmm, on second thought, apparently the Netherlands is also dealing with white nationalism: https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/03/20/the-new-dutch-disease-is-white-nationalism/ … I'll have to do more research.
-
Oh my—that’s a good catch. And now I’m curious about how the elections from the article panned out!

Looking at one of the nationalist parties in question (PVV), they've been steadily gaining seats since 2006 and since 2017 are now the second largest party in the Dutch Parliment. So the Netherlands aren't safe from nationalism either. :-( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_for_Freedom …

That’s good to know. Still, with the Netherlands having socialized healthcare, I gotta wonder whether they might come up on top if push came to shove?
