Honestly shocked this became such a huge topic of convo. It was really just a well-intentioned improvement for the community. If people aren't bothered by it, that's fine. It's not that deep lol.

Dumpster legend originally referred to a rank so low that wins and losses barely affected rank, essentially mirroring what happens at high legend. It's a pretty useful term in that sense. The issue arises when people use dumpster to describe anything that isn't high legend.
-
It's still a term with negative connotations towards players. You want to say high legend, low, middle have at it but dumpster needs to be dumped.

Dumpster legend is not usually a term used in a negative way and more in a meme way. Also Hearthstone doesn’t have 30 million active players on all servers. Way less.
-
I feel that when it's used, it connotes insignificance or at the very least ambivalence. And sure idk what the real server numbers are. But any legend rank is going to be well into the top 1% of players irrespective of server, and that should still be treated as meaningful

I definitely see some top legend players use this in a dismissive fashion for anything over ~400, it’s like there are 30k legend players and im at 2k but I guess I’m bad? Lol

When you label something with a term like "dumpster" you're indicating overall worth not just of the accomplishment but those who achieve it. You can't separate these no matter how much you try.

When someone says a card or deck is bad they'll often say it's "trash" do you then say, "well there might be merits to it?" No, you don't and it's the same for saying dumpster legend.

Dumpster legend is always relative to where a person wants to be. For some people (
@tylerootd ), dumpster legend is any rank that isn't rank 1. If you're happy with your rank, you're entitled to that. Nobody else can make your achievements feel insignificant without your consent. -
I equate this to emoting Well Played after a game (particularly as winner). I had good intentions when I emoted- but I can't control how my action makes my opponent feel based on their perspective. Ultimately I changed my emoting behavior because I don't want to tilt anyone.
