if you mean "contribute to the development of the linux kernel" then yes, that's exactly what they do. It blows my mind that people seem to think Linux is still this grassroots project it used to be, with no vested corporate interest and participation.

Folks should really check out the Linux Foundation sponsors and all that. It's quite a bit of money going into Linux in a general sense, not even accounting for what "enterprise support contract" distros are making.
