i agree with all of this so hard, but it took me a long time to understand it. feel like a lot of assimilationist rhetoric made me feel like i had to be queer enough to be queer, and then constantly feel like i wasn’t queer enough.

once i realized that my “acceptance” was not going to come from passing a bar of queerness but from the way i showed up for and participated in a community, life got much easier.
