Went to
@sundancefest for the 1st time. Made mistakes so you don't have to - here are my tips:

Go! It’s so easy to be insulated in the homogenous bubbles we live in. There’s a big world out there, and Sun Dance is one way to exp diverse stories in a condensed format.

Waitlist: DL the app and create a schd in advanced. Waitlist opens 2hrs before film starts. You must reserve the SECOND waitlist opens up - esp for popular films. Wait in line 30mins before movie starts - otherwise, even if you are #1 on waitlist you’ll have to go to the end1 reply 0 retweets 3 likesShow this thread -

1st weekend of Sun Dance is the busiest. Esp bc after each premiere, movie stars/directors will often host live Q&As. It’s unlikely you’ll get off the waitlist for popular movies, so get a pass instead. If you don’t care for the Q&A, go to Sun Dance in subsequent weekends.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -

Transportation/Housing: Highly recommend getting housing <15-30 mins away from Park City so that you can attend midnight showings (often horror/short stories) and not spend hours commuting each way.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -

There are multiple lounges at Sun Dance (i.e. Canada goose, Dropbox, Audible, Chase Reserve). These are usually closed for private events after 5pm so get there early for free food, coffee, swag, etc.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread

Have an open mind: the film (plugging “Farewell Amor”) that was most outside of my usual go-to movie genre ended up being my favorite. All movies at Sun Dance are vetted / top tier, so even if you go to a less popular movie - chances are, it’ll still be good.
